Who is eligible to be a member of the American Recorder Society (ARS)? 

Membership is open to all individuals, chapters, consorts, recorder orchestras, businesses, and non-profit organizations who want to learn about or support the recorder and its music.

How do I join the ARS? Or renew my membership?

The most efficient way to join or renew your membership is click here to join online. You may also download a membership application form and send it to American Recorder Society, P.O. Box 480054, Charlotte, NC, 28269-5300.

How can I join as a student? 

Student members receive the same benefits as standard members. To be eligible for student membership, you must be enrolled as a full-time student and send proof of enrollment with the application. Download a membership application form.

When does my membership expire? Can I update my membership information?


Membership runs for one year from the date you join. You can verify all details of your member profile, including the expiration date of your membership. Click here to verify and edit information about your membership and stay informed of the most current recorder news.

I don’t need more paper in my life. Can I receive the AR Magazine online? 

Yes, we recently added an e-membership option for our members. E-members receive all of the same benefits as members, except e-members are not mailed the quarterly AR Magazine. Instead, this publication is made available for you to download from the ARS website.

Can I advertise in the AR Magazine or on the ARS website? 

Yes, we are happy to accept your advertisement in the AR Magazine (published quarterly in print and online and archived) and on our website. For more details, click here.

What countries are represented by members of the ARS? 

Today there are ARS members throughout the U.S., Canada, and 30 countries around the world, representing professional and amateur players, consorts and recorder orchestras, teachers, students, composers, workshop organizers, and those who make, repair, or sell recorders. Access to members' profiles is a benefit of ARS membership.
