The ARS has just held its third Student Cover Art Contest. We are grateful to all of the teachers who encouraged their students to prepare artwork featuring the recorder and kept on top of the deadline. Entries were received from eighteen different schools in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. From the 314 pieces of art work submitted, finalists were chosen by a panel of art judges and the winners were selected by the AR S board of directors at their March board meeting in St. Louis.
The winner of the Student Cover Art Contest was Jaimin Keliiho’omalu, an 8th grader from Kapolei Middle School in Kapolei, Hawaii. Jaimin's winning artwork (shown at left) will be featured on the front cover of the Fall (Sept) American Recorder magazine. His teacher is Daryle Mishina.
Second Place went to Eliana Bohn, a 5th grader at Mountain View School in Santa Barbara, California. Her teacher is Sara DiSalvo.
Third place went to Annabelle S.D., a 4th grader from Coyote Hills Elementary in Aurora Colorado. Annabelle's music teacher is Paul Cribari and her art teacher is Rob Hay.
Honorable Mentions were selected from each grade.

Special recognition goes to Kit Stout of St. Mary's Regional School in Vineland, NJ for encouraging their students to participate for the third year in a row. A special thanks goes to Samantha Stout of Wren Elementary in Ballwin, MO for setting a new record of entries from her school, 154 in total.
